Consumers need a “right to repair” their own electronic products. Unlike with most auto repairs, electronic manufacturers make product manuals inaccessible, parts overly expensive or just insist only the manufacturer can repair a product. This is wasteful, bad for the environment and expensive for consumers as it forces people too often to simply throw a product out and buy a new one, rather than going to a local small business to get a quick repair. It also hurts farmers who could fix their farm equipment if the parts and repair manuals were simply made available to them.
